Bakery & Cafe from America, New York “THE CITY BAKERY” opened on 14th July 2021 in Kyoto Kawaramachi. In the tiny Japanese garden and a space where you can feel the Japanese atmosphere, there are about 50 kinds of bread and pastry. It also has a good cafe space, so you can spend a relaxing time with bread and drinks.

“THE CITY BAKERY” started the shop in New York, Union square in 1990. It is the uncompromising bakery to the bread which was carefully selected by the founder Moury Rubin, loved by people visiting from abroad, including New Yorker. In 2013, the bakery opened in Japan, Osaka for the first time. After that, it has also expanded to Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagano and Nagoya. And Kyoto Kawaramachi store is offering 2 open floors. The store has about 65 seats, including a counter seat and terrace table overlooking the tiny garden on the 1st floor and relaxing space on the 2nd floor.

The main bread of the bakery is ‘Pletzl Croissant’. Unlike the general crispy croissant, the feature is that it’s a crunchy texture. You can enjoy the saltiness of rock salt and butter flavor, it’s sure once you eat it, you will be addicted! In addition, the shop is also offering the Kyoto exclusive Matcha macadamia cookies and chocolate chunk cookies to people in New York size. You can really enjoy American bread and pastry.

Kyoto Kawaramachi store is also providing people with Kyoto limited menu. The store has products that can only be tasted here such as the bread using wheat from Kyoto and pastry using Uji matcha and black beans. Moreover, the eating space provides a breakfast menu and deli plate that you can enjoy all day long as well.
