Live your best sauna life! Enjoy the best experience at the retro bathhouse, Umeyu, in Kyoto
Umeyu is a traditional bathhouse that is a 7-minute walk away from Kiyomizu Gojo Station. Its retro atmosphere will make you feel like you took a step back in time. It’s beloved by local residents and tourists from all over.
Umeyu was taken over by a company that specializes in keeping bathhouses alive in Japan. In 2015, the then 24-year-old company president took over this bathhouse that was about to be shut down and renovated it but left its Showa period (1926-1989) charms. A deep bath, jet bath, cold bath, electric bath, herbal bath, and sauna were built.
The sauna, neon signs, original merchandise, the Umeya newsletter, and the 490 JPY price (for adults). All of these are what make people want to come here. Come and relax your tired body here this summer.
