“Yanagi Chaya Asakusa Shop” whose Japanese & Western sweets with plenty of Kyoto’s matcha is a hot topic

“Yanagi Chaya Asakusa Shop(やなぎ茶屋 浅草店)” located on Shin Nakamise Dori. It’s one of the hottest Japanese cafes in Asakusa, and there you can have the sweets using matcha from Kyoto’s tea maker ‘Morihan (森半)’ founded in 1836. We got a little too ambitious and ordered 4 types of sweets. First, “Matcha Tiramisu” and “Hojicha Tiramisu.” The tiramisu in the cypress box has a beautiful and elegant look. Scooping it with a spoon, then the smooth homemade cream with mascarpone cheese appears. The flavor blending rich cream and tea’s elegant and bitter taste and its unique texture is sure to be your first experience. Second, “Uji Matcha Shiratama” which is hot sweets popular during especially winter. The soft and chewy rice-flower dumplings are handmade one by one in this shop. The rich matcha flavor and sweetness is its feature. Try it while eating the salted kelp! Third, “Matcha Azuki Shiratama Float” filled with plenty of ingredients, such as Uji matcha soft serve ice cream, red bean sweet paste and Yatsuhashi. You’re sure to be satisfied with its flavors’ changing.
